I am
Nnenna Ihekoromadu
While working at the Jules Stein Eye Institute in UCLA about 22 years ago,
the pharmaceutical sales reps that called on the Laser Eye Institute caught my attention!
As a Foreign Medical Graduate who had been working in the USA for about 4 years then,
I found the sales reps dynamic personality quite impressive.
During the lunch & learns, I admired their big smiles, and confidence.
To me, it seemed as they were truly living ‘The American Dream’ –
something I desperately wanted to achieve for myself.
So I got really curious about the Pharma industry and decided to
trade in my scrubs and white coats for a few months of Corporate life
and the opportunity to get dressed up in pants suits.
I thought I would only do this for about a year… but 22 years later,
I’m still loving everything about the pharmaceutical and biotech industry.
I have been privileged to have established
strong relationships with industry leaders
and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs).
I have led multiple cross-functional teams and successfully launched multiple products at different companies in the space.
The art and science of drug discovery and clinical research
is always exciting,
but I find that doing it within the Ophthalmology, Vision care therapeutic area
is extremely gratifying.
Over the years, we’ve contributed to major advancements
in all sub-therapeutic areas – especially for indications like
Dry eye, Glaucoma, Age-related Macular Degeneration,
Diabetic Retinopathy and Inherited Retina Diseases.
